The world’s first MAN B&W S60ME-C10.6 marine diesel engine

Hitachi Zosen Marine Engine Co., Ltd. completed HITACHI-MAN B&W 7S60ME-C10.6-HPSCR, the world’s first MAN B&W S60ME-C10.6 marine diesel engine, and the newbuilt vessel equipped with it entered recently into service.

This engine has Sequentially Controlled Fuel Injection system, which makes it possible to reduce NOx (nitrogen oxides) emission from the engine compared to conventional engines.

With this technology, NOx emission and fuel consumption rates, which are in a trade-off relationship, can be adjusted more optimally than conventional engines. As a result, it is possible to satisfy the regulation value of NOx emission and provide excellent fuel saving.
