Electronic Control Engines
In 2008, Hitachi Zosen completed the 6RT-flex50-B engine, which is a WinGD electronically-controlled engine. Similar to the MAN B&W ME engine, the cam is abolished and the fuel injection and exhaust valve timing are performed electronically. However, the fuel system for the 6RT-flex50-B is a common rail system boosted to 1,000 bar. This simplification of the fuel injection system is a major feature of WinGD X and RT-flex engines. Hitachi Zosen also has a production system for dual-fuel diesel engines. Demand for these engines is increasing due to environmental regulations.
