Conducted Shop trial of environmentally friendly marine engine HITACHI-MAN B&W 7S60ME-C10.5-GI-HPSCR
Hitachi Zosen Marine Engine Co.,Ltd. (hereinafter, “HZME”) recently conducted shop trial at its headquarters and factory for the environmentally friendly marine engine HITACHI-MAN B&W 7S60ME-C10.5-GI-HPSCR (for Capesize Bulk Carrier) (hereinafter, the ”Engine”), which can significantly reduce NOx and CO2 emissions.
The Engine can be run on LNG, which has low CO2 emissions, and can reduce CO2 emissions by about 30 tons per day while sailing on LNG compared to conventional engines on heavy fuel oil.
In addition, Denitrification performance was confirmed when the Engine was operated in combination with the second-generation marine SCR system (Hitz HP-SCR Mk-II).
Furthermore, as an effort to reduce CO2 emissions from the marine engine manufacturing process, some of the Engine test was conducted using carbon-offset LNG.
It should be noted that our internal investigation and the investigation by the Special Investigation Committee are still ongoing regarding the improper conducts related such as fuel consumption in the marine engine business of HZME. However, the aforementioned shop trial was conducted properly, with relevant organizations confirming the corrective actions and attending the shop trial.
