Similar to the MAN B&amp;W ME engine, the cam is abolished and the fuel injection and exhaust valve timing are performed electronically. However, the fuel system for the 6RT-flex50-B is a common rail system boosted to 1,000 bar. This simplification of the fuel injection system is a major feature of WinGD X and RT-flex engines. Hitachi Zosen also has a production system for dual-fuel diesel engines.
